Scopez

Scopez

Gerry Scopez embodies the different views of life through music. The micro“scope” in his mind enables him to magnify and retract the views of the rap game, and it is certainly reflected in his diversity in hip-hop style. Often viewed as an anti-socialite, the 23 year old Vancouver-bred Chinese emcee combines polar opposites to balance himself and set his musical style apart from any other. Also a producer, the diversity of Scopez ranges from a heavy boom-bap influence with simplistic chopped-up samples to a more experimental sound with the use of synthesizers and 808’s. See colors, see sounds, see stars, this is LIFE UNDER SCOPEZ. YVR . YYZ . But now, it means much more than that; South African born Emmanuel “Menny B” Dlamini has taken this anthem that he has applied to his previous life experiences, and used it as a template to keep on rising above any obstacle that crosses his path. His life in South Africa was riddled with a lot of negativity and had Menny facing a day-to-day struggle, everyday. Violence, poverty, and a dismal sense of hope had Menny wondering what was in store for his future, if anything at all. Then, after long years spent on his own as a kid,... Read More »
