Elaine “Lil Bit” Shepherd
Elaine “Lil’Bit” Shepherd – born in Bahrain, began performing at a young age. In 1997 she immigrated to Vancouver BC, Canada with her family, where she continued to develop her musical talents. Blessed with a killer voice and creative ability, Lil’Bit is recognized as “the little girl with the big voice”. Her sweet, feathery tone is a stark contrast to her soulful power.
In high-school she took up guitar and piano, and began concentrating heavily on her songwriting. While studying Jazz & Contemporary Voice in college, Shepherd began collaborating with musicians who would eventually introduce her to the world of Hip-Hop, R&B, and Reggae.
Lil’Bit was soon after introduced into the Toronto reggae scene after being discovered by Carrie Mullings of iMOK Enterprises at the 2009 Junos in Vancouver, British Columbia.
After her release of “Lady In The Streets” Elaine Lil’Bit Shepherd had quickly been identified as a “Hidden Gem” with a fresh, new sound.
A 20 year radio veteran from Jamaica had this to say about the single:
“There were times when I thought that sweet Lovers Rock like this was a thing of the past. After listening to this talented artist, I realized that there is still hope for music of such quality. Her Erika Badu sound alike add flavor to some poignant lyrics telling the brothers, “don’t rush it, just take time to get to know me”
The lyrics were no doubt skillfully crafted to speak for today’s women as she virtuously declares that the price of her worth is not under her skirt. The song has the kind of power to keep you listening for hours. Of course this artist will be around for a very long time.”

With regular rotation airplay on community radio across Canada Lil’ Bit’s name was working its way to the top. Last June, Shepherd received the Most Promising New Artist Award at the 2010 RMAA’s, and is now the recipient for the most prestigious award in the Canadian Music Industry. Her single “Likkle But Mi Tallawah” won the 2011 Juno for Reggae Recording of the Year.
Lil’bit also received 2 awards at the 2011 WCRMA’s for “Best Female Vocalist” and “Single Of The Year”, and was also nominated for “Best Female Vocalist”, “Best Reggae Single” and “Artist Of The Year” at the 2011 RMAA’s.
With good reason, Lil’Bit is one of Canada’s most outstanding prospects in the world of music.
